A statement released by the Russian Foreign Ministry elaborated that Lavrov would focus on the task of “consolidating the efforts of the international community in finding mutually acceptable solutions to military and political crises.”
“These include an effective and coordinated fight against the universal threat of terrorism in the face of the Islamic State, al-Qaeda and other similar extremist groups,” the statement said.
Lavrov and Attiyah are also expected to discuss the further improvement of the legal framework of bilateral ties, including drafting the Russian-Qatari intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
Sergei Lavrov will also hold trilateral talks with his US and Saudi counterparts during his visit.
“As part of Minister Lavrov’s stay in Doha, he is scheduled to meet with US Secretary of State John Kerry and Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel Jubeir,” the ministry said in a statement.
