CARACAS (Sputnik) – The Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) party got 112 seats after all the votes have been counted, while President Nicolas Maduro’s United Socialist Party of Venezuela got 55 in the Sunday elections, according to the national electoral council.
"With this hidden agenda they come for the social gains we have built for over 15 years with the progressive governments of Hugo Chavez (1999-2013) and Nicolas Maduro," Rodriguez said.
According to Rodriguez, the US position and its allies in Venezuela determined the PSUV defeat.
PSUV will continue fighting for social rights, according to the official.
Until the election upset, the socialist pro-presidential party had remained in power for 15 years, since then-President Hugo Chavez launched his leftist social movement, Bolivarian Revolution.
