Egypt is diversifying its sources of tourism after several countries suspended flights to the country, the Egyptian trade and industry minister told Sputnik on Thursday.

ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) – Russia, along with several other countries, including the United Kingdom, suspended flights to Egypt over safety concerns after an Airbus A321 crashed en route from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg, killing all 224 people on board after an explosive device detonation.

"It [flights suspension] is affecting tourism. We are working on diversifying tourism sources in addition to covering industry drop in other sectors. We see a much stronger Arab tourism," Tarek Kabil said on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

Kabil stressed that restoring tourism took time.
